Ora‑Igbomina community in Osun attacked by bandits

Bandits launched a daring attack on Ora‑Igbomina community in Isokan/Ifelodun area near the Osun–Kwara border on Monday, December 15, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m. The attackers abducted a retired Customs officer, Emmanuel Owolabi, from his home and killed a resident, reportedly a local villager.

Community in shock

Residents said the attackers moved swiftly, targeting homes and fleeing before security forces could respond. Witnesses described a scene of chaos, with neighbors fleeing to nearby farms and bushes to escape the raiders. Community leaders expressed concern over repeated cross-border attacks and the vulnerability of border settlements.

Search and rescue operations underway

Authorities, including the police and Amotekun corps, have intensified search operations. Officials confirmed that both state and local security units are working to locate the abducted ex-Customs officer and apprehend the attackers. Residents have called for urgent security reinforcement to prevent further attacks.

Border communities at risk

Experts highlight that communities along the Osun–Kwara border remain at high risk due to porous borders and inadequate surveillance. Local leaders warned that without improved security, residents remain vulnerable to violent raids, kidnappings, and theft by organized groups.

Calls for government action

Political and community leaders have urged the Osun State Government to enhance intelligence gathering, increase patrols, and collaborate with neighboring states to protect vulnerable communities. Residents continue to demand swift action to recover the kidnapped officer and ensure the safety of the area.
