The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has summoned Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, along with Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, in connection with bribery allegations involving EFCC personnel.
This development follows a viral video in which Bobrisky claimed that certain unnamed EFCC officers received ₦15 million from him to drop money laundering charges. The EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, has initiated an investigation into these claims.
Bobrisky, who faced six charges related to money laundering and currency abuse totaling approximately ₦127.8 million, saw some of these charges dropped after his legal counsel, Suleiman Suleiman, informed the court about an agreement between Bobrisky and the commission.
While the court accepted the request to dismiss two of the counts, Bobrisky was convicted for currency abuse.
In a statement, EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, confirmed that the commission is actively investigating the bribery allegations mentioned in the viral video.
“We are committed to upholding our values of integrity and professionalism. An investigative team has been formed to look into these serious claims,” Oyewale stated. He assured the public that the investigation would be thorough and that findings would be made public.
The EFCC has requested both Bobrisky and Otse to report to its Lagos Directorate to aid in the investigation.
