The Gombe State Police Command has arrested a young security guard in connection with the killing of a worker inside the Government House premises.
The suspect, identified as Shuaibu Adamu, a 19-year-old casual watchman, allegedly attacked and killed Mallam Umar, a borehole operator working within the Government House complex.
How the Incident Happened
According to the police, officers received an emergency report at about 3:50 p.m. on Friday, alerting them to a possible case of homicide inside the Government House.
When security operatives arrived at the scene, they found Mallam Umar lying motionless. Initial observations showed his trousers tied around his neck, while a locally abused intoxicant commonly known as rubber solution was found in his mouth.
Authorities rushed the victim to the Specialist Hospital in Gombe, where medical personnel confirmed him dead. The police later moved his body to the mortuary for an autopsy.
CCTV Footage Exposes Suspect
The police spokesperson, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed that CCTV footage from the premises played a crucial role in the investigation. The footage reportedly showed Shuaibu Adamu, also known by the alias Yaya Mama, physically assaulting the victim shortly before his death and fleeing the scene afterward.
Following the discovery, the Commissioner of Police, Umar Chuso, personally visited the scene and ordered an in-depth investigation.
Arrest and Confession
Acting on intelligence, police officers tracked down the suspect and arrested him at Bagadaza Quarters around 11:00 p.m. on Friday.
During preliminary questioning, Adamu reportedly confessed to the crime. He remains in police custody as investigators complete their findings ahead of prosecution.

The Gombe State Police Command has assured residents that it remains committed to maintaining security, especially around sensitive government facilities, and vowed to ensure justice for the victim.
