Auwal Danladi Sankara, the Jigawa State Commissioner for Special Duties, became embroiled in a scandal after Hisbah Board operatives in Kano arrested him on Thursday night, October 17, 2024. Officials apprehended him on allegations of engaging in an illicit affair with a married woman, Tasleem Baba Nabegu, in an uncompleted building along Lamido Crescent Road. Moreover, Hisbah operatives focused their efforts on the location after receiving intelligence reports and complaints from the woman’s husband, Nasiru Bulama. Subsequently, Bulama accused the commissioner of carrying on an ongoing affair with his wife, prompting officials to take action and confront Sankara at the scene.
In addition, Nasiru Bulama had reportedly filed multiple complaints with the police, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Hisbah Board. As a result, Hisbah officers tracked Sankara and caught him with the woman at the location. Sankara, a prominent political figure in Jigawa, now faces intense public scrutiny and legal challenges. Furthermore, Hisbah authorities confirmed his detention at Kurmawa Correctional Centre in Kano, where he awaits further legal proceedings.
