In a shocking turn of events, Bolaji Olugbenga, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ijanikin Police Station in Lagos, has died after collapsing in his office. The incident took place on Thursday, October 17, 2024. According to police sources, Olugbenga slumped at his desk and was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital, but efforts to revive him proved unsuccessful.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos police spokesperson, confirmed the death on Friday and expressed that the sudden loss deeply saddens the entire police community. Hundeyin explained that the late DPO had not shown any severe signs of illness prior to the incident. Reports indicated that he had complained of a mild headache earlier in the day but continued with his duties. After collapsing, officials rushed him to the hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.

According to officers at the Ijanikin station, Olugbenga had been working as usual when he suddenly slumped and began gasping for air. His orderly quickly called for help, and they immediately transported him to the hospital.
