Nigeria’s First Lady Aisha Buhari has denied posting the fake CBN update on the extension of the old naira notes deadline posted on her social media accounts. She said hacker posted the fake CBN statement on her social media page, and the security agencies should find out who she’s sharing her social media handles with.
A statement made on Tuesday, signed by Osita Nwanisobi, Central Bank of Nigeria spokesperson, circulated on social media.
The statement claimed that the apex bank has been directed to recirculate the old naira notes, adding that they would remain legal tender till May.
The now deleted statement was also shared by Aisha on her official Facebook and Instagram page.
The CBN subsequently denied being involved in making such statement and asked the public to disregard it.
