Okowa Clears Fraud Allegations, EFCC Finds No Case

Former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has strongly denied recent fraud allegations, firmly stating that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) found no evidence of wrongdoing. Addressing the public on this matter, Okowa clarified that the EFCC investigated accusations regarding the alleged misappropriation of N1.3 trillion from the 13% derivation fund during his tenure from 2015 to 2023. However, he emphasized that the commission found no case against him.

Throughout the EFCC’s investigation, Okowa fully cooperated, submitting relevant documentation and offering detailed clarifications. “I have always ensured transparency and accountability in my administration,” he said. He added that the EFCC’s comprehensive investigation has now vindicated him, as they could not substantiate any allegations.

Moreover, Okowa expressed appreciation for the trust and support he has received from the people of Delta State. Indeed, he acknowledged that the allegations had understandably caused concern, but he reassured his supporters by saying, “This outcome reaffirms my commitment to serving with integrity.” Okowa’s statement followed the EFCC’s official position on the matter. An EFCC spokesperson remarked, “After thoroughly reviewing the evidence, we have concluded that there is no basis for further action against Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.”

Turning Attention to Delta State’s Future

This development comes after months of scrutiny, which had sparked debates and speculation regarding Okowa’s financial management. Many observers had called for a transparent review to ensure accountability in public office. With the EFCC’s decision now public, Okowa has shifted focus toward Delta State’s progress.

A Call for Unity and Development

Okowa is urging all stakeholders to prioritize initiatives that will promote the state’s growth. According to him, “Now is the time to look forward, work together, and concentrate on what benefits Delta State.” His call for unity, following the resolution of this case, marks an essential step in rebuilding trust, highlighting the importance of collaboration in driving meaningful development.
